Opening your home to an international student is more than providing a place to stay—it’s an opportunity to build connections, share cultures, and make a lasting difference in a young person’s life, while enriching your own.
Families across the Limestone community tell us that hosting is one of the most rewarding experiences they have had.
Host families provide international students with the support that parents normally provide their own children:
- A nurturing family environment while students study in Kingston.
- A private bedroom, equipped with a bed, desk, and appropriate storage space.
- Three nutritious meals per day.
- Transportation to activities around Kingston, when necessary.
Host families are compensated with a monthly stipend of $1100/month (for the 2026-2027 school year). This amount will increase in 27-28. This is a tax-free stipend is paid to homestay families directly by the Limestone District School Board.
